In conjunction with the upcoming month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya season, IDEAL® Full Cream Evaporated Milk teamed up with Celebrity MasterChef Dato’ Fazley Yaakob to share a series of cooking showcases that will ideally be useful for the festive period. The first showcase was held at AEON Mall Shah Alam, where the new IDEAL® Full Cream Evaporated Milk label was unveiled. Just like last year, I looked forward to find out what are the delectable recipes crafted by Dato’ Fazley himself especially for Hari Raya x IDEAL® this year.

Media and Bloggers aside, other attendees that were present on the day were fans of Dato’ Fazley (no surprise there!), members from the Persatuan Wanita Inspirasi Negara, as well as Dato’ Fazley’s mother herself! Quite an interesting crowd this year. One thing I’d like to point out is that even though this cooking showcase had made its theme around the Ramadhan period, it doesn’t mean that we cannot adapt the recipes to be used in our daily ‘masak-masak’ session. I’d personally like to try whipping up the Fiery Creamy Smoked Chicken Pasta at home for me and my man. It’s gonna be a creamy killer!

To no one’s surprise (mine included), the main event spotlight was to showcase the rich creamy taste and texture of IDEAL® that is known for its gift as an international pedigree; and for producing high quality and superior culinary experiences. Did I mention how much I had looked forward to original recipes from Dato’ Fazley featuring IDEAL®?:P

The whole cooking session took about 2 hours, where Dato’ Fazley guided us through the recipe for three dishes: Fiery Creamy Smoked Chicken Pasta, Banana and Peach Crumble with Vanilla Sauce, and Creamy Corn Pudding with Dessicated Coconut.

I learned an interesting cheat on that day. To create that ‘smoky’ taste and texture to the meat, sear the meat on a dry pan (no oil!) for several minutes on both sides. Medium to high heat will do. I itched to test this tip out so a few nights later, I did experiment on my own! I didn’t marinade the chicken as Dato’ Fazley did though, but wow it DID work. The only downside to this was that my chicken was frozen (lol) so it wasn’t cooked through. Still, that was remedied by wrapping it up (once again, dry) in aluminium foil and left to bake in the oven for 15 minutes 😀

I was actually skeptical if I would like this, cause a) it is creamy and b) the colour result was somewhat unnerving to me (I am weird that way). But hey, it’s creamy YET spicy. And I love spicy food 😀 personally I think he had toned down the cili padi for this cookout but I don’t blame him for that. I’d like to recreate this dish with extra chilli though one day hahaha.

I can’t resist adding this photo in! Here we have the chef himself feeding Mr. Lai Ming Kong, Senior Vice President of Domestic Commercial Operations, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd. It was a pretty LOL yet feel good moment as we watched this scene unfold haha.

I am honestly not a dessert person (I get plenty of outraged gasps when I admitted this) but this is actually pretty good! I think what I like about this is that it isn’t overly sweet, and the IDEAL® full cream evaporated milk actually sort of mellowed and combined all of the sweetness into one nice blend.

Last but not least, Creamy Corn Pudding with desiccated coconut. Originally a sweet (or super sweet) dish, the IDEAL® full cream evaporated milk further enhances the natural sweetness and aroma of the corn; making it a perfect accompaniment to delight the palate of friends and family. Awesome for potluck too I might add (cause it is pretty easy to DIY at home)

Seeing that this was a cooking showcase, obviously recipes were shared on the day. I promise I’ll write a separate post and share out the recipes to everyone 🙂 Just remember to stock up on IDEAL® Full Cream Evaporated Milk okay?
